Self-publishing can be daunting. How do I get started? What do I do next? Why is my book not selling? If you need help getting your great idea for a children’s book on the market and you don’t want to spend a fortune getting there, then you’ve come to the right place. I can show you how I successfully wrote, illustrate, and sold thousands of books while spending almost nothing on advertising. If I can do it. You can, too.

There are 7 packages to choose from depending on where you are in the publishing process and what you need.

Once you have picked a package, you can then choose how much time you are would like to have for your consultation and how many sessions you need to begin. Are you unsure which package is right for you? Then I would suggest you just choose package 1 and write on your consultation form that you have other matters that you want to discuss and clarify.

Are you just starting out and feeling overwhelmed? Do you need a plan? I’ll gladly answer your questions on how to begin self-publishing and how to make your idea into a reality.

Package 2: Publishing Basics

I think I’m ready to publish. I just have a few questions…

You’ve started on your book, but you haven’t published it, yet and now a bunch of new questions have popped up and you don’t know where to begin. From how does KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) work to how do I write a blurb in HTML, I’ll get you set up so that you can hit that Publish button and be on your way.

Package 3: Guerrilla Marketing

My books aren’t selling. What else can I do?

Have you published your book and are now feeling discouraged because your sales are so low? Don’t worry, there is a lot that you can do. If you would like some tips on what you can do to market your book and a place where you can ask questions about your marketing strategy, this is the package for you. FYI, marketing for free on social media is not as complicated as it might seem.

Package 4: The Bestseller

How can I become an Amazon bestseller?

Becoming an Amazon bestseller or at least improving your ranking is not as difficult as you might think. I’ll show you how to find the right categories, update your keywords, and how to improve your visibility on Amazon so that customers click on your book.

Package 5: The Book Cover

Help! Is my book cover okay?

Your book cover is one of the most important features of your book. If people don’t click on your cover, then they won’t ever even read your blurb. If you want an honest opinion about your book cover and some tips for what you can do to make it better, then this is the package for you.

Package 6: Layout Basics

My layout just needs that extra something. What can I do?

Sometimes, even when your book is ready, it just doesn’t look professional enough. It’s also hard to get an honest opinion from family and friends who just want to be supportive. I’ll gladly give you some tips on layout, typeface, and storyline.

Package 7: Custom

Could you do my book cover and/or layout?

Do you have the text and illustrations but don’t know what to do next? I’ll gladly put your book together for you or talk you through the process of doing it yourself. The price will depend on exactly what you need and how much you have already done yourself. Layout design is charged on an hourly basis. The package price only includes initial consultation. Please book at least a 60 min consultation slot.

When you book a package, I’ll send you an email with possible dates and times. Once I receive this, we can book an appointment for a Zoom/Skype meeting to discuss your needs and you can send payment. You may also need to send a pdf of your book depending on which package you take. During the meeting, I’ll do my best to answer any questions you may have about the process and give you tips on what I think you can do to be more successful in your endeavor. In order to make money, you have to be willing to invest in your product. Learning how to do things right the first time will save you money later.

I have my Masters of Arts in Illustration and Book Design (1/2021) and have worked over 20 years in education as both an art and English teacher as well as District Manager of Instruction for 13 language schools.  I have always had a passion for writing and drawing and fell in love with children’s books after becoming a mother. I prefer using Amazon’s Print on Demand, POD for short, because it is a relatively simple way to publish a book without all of the hassle of having to run a Kickstarter campaign or invest in an expensive print run. Originally, I was worried that POD books would be of lesser quality, but so far this has never been an issue. All of my books have at least a 4.5 star rating (out of 5). Five of my POD children’s books received bestseller titles on Amazon in various categories.  In 2020, my book, The Day the Lines Changed sold 5,000 copies in only nine months and was even featured in Business Insider and the Washington Post. Since then I have published three more books and sold thousands of copies. In addition, I spend very little on advertising, choosing instead to use social media to get the word out. How do I do it? I’ll gladly tell you. I have set up this consulting site to help share with other authors and illustrators what I have learned about how to be successful selling children’s book using POD.  If I can do it, you can too.
