Life During the Pandemic

Stories and Pictures - The Day the Lines Changed

“The Coronavirus pandemic has affected children throughout the world. I have received many heartwarming emails and stories of how The Day the Lines Changed is being used: A fireman in Dakota City, Nebraska, a town which was deeply affected by the Coronavirus when its meatpacking industry was hard hit, told the story at the local library; a special education teacher in Brooklyn told the story on Youtube and told of how the virus affected them there; a school teacher in Seattle, one of the first US cities to be reached by the virus, used this story to comfort her students; this story was told to a group of children at the RAF station in Halton, UK whose parents were on the frontlines helping with the Coronavirus response; and many more.

I have also received pictures and drawings from children which share their experience during lockdown. Some of these are based on the free lesson plans for The Day the Lines Changed and have been done using paper collage; others are from lessons done online on various platforms. I love getting pictures! Thank you to all of the children who have sent them my way. I will do my best to share as many as I can.” - Kelley
